Optimal Process, Inc. was founded in 1986 by Steve Cantor to develop custom software and, later, web sites and other Internet or intranet applications for businesses. The firm has built hundreds of systems for an unusually wide variety of clients, particularly in the banking, shipping and hospitality industries.

Steve named his company Optimal Process because of his belief, derived from decades of experience, that it’s the process that counts – the business process that the software is intended to optimize, and the process of collaborating with the client to design and implement that software. We believe that communication between developer and client is the sine qua non of successful software development.

Optimal Process has written software in numerous languages for a variety of platforms. Our technologies of choice, however, are predominantly from the Microsoft family of development tools, including Visual Basic, SQL Server, Visual Basic Script and ASP.net. We are also expert in the use of JavaScript, C++ and Crystal Reports. Macromedia Flash and Generator are incorporated into our work through our associations with other firms.

Beyond technical expertise, business knowledge and the ability to communicate with business people, the other qualification required of software developers is an absolute commitment to confidentiality. No developer can design software specifically for a particular business or any of its unique processes without learning a good deal about them – in fact, it’s the ability to learn and understand that chiefly distinguishes one developer from another. Optimal Process is dependent on the trust we have earned over decades of close collaboration with our clients. That trust depends, in turn, on our unconditional respect for proprietary information.
