Things you should know about our event driven community web site.

1. The community is a combination of bands, fans, promoters, venues, agents, record labels, recording studios and other entities involved in the music businesses.

2. Events (music shows, etc) are added by the performers or their agents, not by a web administrator. This greatly reduces the effort to keep the site current.

3. These events are shown on the site by date and can be sorted and searched in many ways. Also, these events can be placed on any web site by inserting a simple snippet of html code.

4. Emails are automatically sent to registered users every week showing the upcoming events.

5. The community will naturally attract additional users due to members forwarding the email to their friends.

6. Each user may elect to have their own web page which contains a narrative about the band (or other entity), photos, songs which are shown in a convenient jukebox as well as the particular events associated with this band.

7. Due to the continuous viewing of these events there is an opportunity to sell advertising with this niche market. The ads can be placed on the perimeter of the site having a minimal distraction for the user.

"These social networks are like TV networks. You don't belong just to one social network. If that were the case, MySpace never would have appeared, and everyone would be using Friendster – which is still around. We'll see the nichification of these things, with people joining multiple networks that have specific allure for them. The question for music marketers is, "how do I capitalize on this genre as a whole?" Shahi Ghanem, President & CEO, Brickfish
